Changes to School Meal Arrangements

As advised in the last copy of the school newsletter, we will be trialling some changes to our hot school meals service after half term.  We are introducing a ‘band’ system which will enable each child to select daily from the full choice of all meal options available on the menu. Previously only the main option was served, unless your child is a vegetarian.
In the morning, when teachers take the dinner register, children can choose the meal they want and will be given a coloured wristband.

A RED band indicates menu choice 1 (usually meat or fish).
A GREEN band indicates menu choice 2 (largely vegetarian).
A YELLOW band indicates the alternative option (usually a salad, wrap or jacket potato).
Numbers will then be phoned through to the kitchen each morning, so the correct numbers of meals can be prepared and delivered to us.

All children will be bringing home a copy of the new menu and a copy will be displayed in each playground.  Infant children will be given a visual prompt of the meal choices to help them with their choice.

In order for this to be successful, we really hope that you will take the time to discuss the menu choices with your child each day they are having a hot meal, so they come to school knowing what  they would like to eat.

If you have any queries regarding these changes please come and speak to us.  We hope that offering more meal options will increase the children’s enjoyment of their school meals.
